Common Agrimony is a herb which has anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsive, styptic, hemostatic, general tonic, expectorant and choleretic action. It is widely used in popular and traditional medicine as a product for external and internal application. Leaves, flowering tops and roots are suitable for gathering.
Common Agrimony contains a rich complex of biologically active substances: essential oils, flavonoids, choline, bitter principles, catechins, triterpenes, saponins, organic acids, vitamins, tanning substances, mineral salts, microelements etc. Rich composition of this herb is the reason of its wide use for medical purposes.
Common Agrimony is recommended for internal use when having gastro-intestinal, lien, hepatic, gall bladder diseases, Kidney stone disease, bone and joint diseases, lung, urogenital, oncological diseases, neuralgia, hemorrhoids, helminthic infections.
Common Agrimony is used externally when having different inflammatory and inflectional diseases in the form of gargles and rinsing during angina, laryngitis, pharyngitis, nasal colds, in the form of applications during furunculosis and dermatitis, burns, eczema, in the form of clyster and dishes when having worms and hemorrhoids.
Common Agrimony, herb
The grass of Common Agrimony is used for making infusions, brews, alcohol infusions and also for the usage in a dry form.
Making an alcohol infusion: pour 0.5 l of boiling water over 3 tablespoons of the herb, close, ingrain for 2 hours. Drink 2/3 glasses 3 times a day.
Making a brew: pour 0.5 l of boiling water over 2 tablespoons of the herb, boil for 15 minutes. Drink 0,5 glass 3 times a day.
Dry ground grass of Common Agrimony is taken in 1-2 tablespoons during diarrhea and helminthic infections.
When having a hemorrhoids the brew or infusion of Common Agrimony (4-5 tablespoons for 5 l of water) is used for half bath.
The brew for external use (rinsing, applications, bathes) is prepared as follows: pour 1 l of boiling water over 100 gr of the herb, then boil on the low heat till 1/3 of the volume is evaporated. The brew is cooled down, filtered, expressed and used for making compresses, bathes and applications during 1-2 days.
